Now that has a nice ring to it, doesn’t it? No-negativity November! I adore it! I’ve been trying to develop how I wanted to start this month, and I was scrolling through my never-ending emails – and came across this title from a lovely lady at DeHartandcompany! She sends me the occasional email about an upcoming or previously released book along with information about that particular author and what their book entails.

Author Elaine Parke wants America to be united again! She is quoted as saying, “We smugly praise our civilization as technologically advanced. There is, however, a catastrophic price. Society is collapsing under the massive weight of social and economic inequality, racialism, and the power-enabled and greed-driven greed of corporate, and political, and climate of insensitive
corruption.”

If that doesn’t hit home for you, nothing will. Everyone, including myself, is so caught up in their own lives that we don’t remember the golden rule – do to others what you’d want to be done to you. We all need to come together and help one another. The only way to even begin the healing process for this country and the world is by taking that first step and helping your fellow humans. We have to stop blaming everyone else!

Ms. Parke has a new book out right now, ‘The Habits of Unity: 12 Months to a Stronger America…One Citizen at a Time.’ This book focuses on November and how to be anti-negative and gives a step-by-step approach towards the other eleven months out of the year. Each month has its own particular goal if you will.

Do you have what it takes to meet the goals?

Learning new habits and breaking old ones is tough! That’s not to say impossible, but challenging. It took me a very long time to come up with something to be happy about every day, but in the end, I did it. Some days I’m just delighted to have a roof over my head. Others I’m happy about some HUGE win for me. Or something that Declan or Tristan accomplished.

Ms. Parke’s book has a section that gives you a 1-minute-motivational tool for every single day of the year. That’s 365 days of quick one minute tools to help you succeed and bring more positivity into not only your life but the lives of those around you. How many people do you know that could use a smile, a laugh, or a kind word sent their way? I know plenty!

Focus on the fact that it’s November – which should instantly remind the majority of us of Thanksgiving. That’s the whole point. To be thankful, joyous, and enjoy the things you have around you? The turkey, stuffing, pie, family gatherings, special moments! Hopefully, you’ll all be getting in on some of that – I know I will, as I look forward to my dads’ pumpkin pie every year!

November can be somewhat of a downer.

The holidays are coming up, and for many people, those aren’t as joyful as they’d like. Maybe a family member is missing or has passed away. Perhaps a family member is in the Armed Forces (thank you!) and can’t get home for the holidays! Perhaps it’s seemingly impossible to have a no-negativity November! However, what’s the harm in trying?

A few of the suggestions for daily motivation that you can find in Ms. Parke’s book revolve around things you already know. We’re taught the absolute basic lessons when we’re young. Things such as say please and thank you, respect your elders, don’t say anything if you have nothing nice to say, accept others for who they are, you can make it through a setback! I’m working on these “words of wisdom” with both of my boys right now every day. It’s definitely something that I have to repeat every day just like you would a mantra!

A little bit more about the author:

Elaine Parke is the author of multiple books, and her award winning model of how to build social unity has brought together multiple neighborhoods in the USA, as well as in Rwanda! She has travelled the country as a motivational speaker with a strong focus on bringing the nation back together one good habit at a time!

I’m definitely going to be purchasing Ms. Parke’s book and beginning to practice No-Negativity November! I already do this, however, every day; and will continue to do so! Make sure you take a gander at her website, 12 Habits for All of Us, and look at all of the incredible things she’s done! I’d love to hear your thoughts on No-Negativity November! Drop me a line or an email!

I’ve been fortunate the past few years to have read a lot of books about self-awareness, healing, and how to fulfill myself! One of my more favorite ones recently was the memoir, Love is Blind, by Ruth Vallis!

Love ya,

Kelly Ann
