Prohibition – a time in our history where alcohol was banned! Can you imagine?! I sure can’t – all I know is, there are just some days that I need a drink. The same is true for most adults, within reason, of course.
I have to admit, I don’t have much knowledge regarding Prohibition – but what I do know is that the 21st Amendment to our Constitution ended it!
Another common knowledge point for most is that a lot of people still drank during the Prohibition era – and in honor of those times, the Alcatraz East Crime Museum is throwing a PARTY!!!
The Alcatraz East Crime Museum is located in Pigeon Forge, TN! They’re hosting this temporary exhibit from December 1st, through February 1st, 2023.
This weekend, however, the 2nd (tonight!) through Sunday, there is a special going on, where if you dress on Roaring 20’s attire, you can receive a BOGO ticket for admission!!
I’m not going to lie, I REALLY wanted to head that way this weekend, but we just have too much going on! I was looking forward to re-using my 20’s outfit I wore a few weeks ago for an event where I live.
There will be trivia, games, free mugshots, and prizes during the repeal celebration – specifically from today through Sunday. The remainder of the exhibit will feature a 1921 hidden book flask, a 1927 whiskey prescription, & even AL Capone’s Lexington Hotel Door Knobs!
Some other temp exhibits they have are about Bonnie & Clyde; John Dillinger; and the TN Bureau of Investigation, or TBI.
They also have exhibits that are always available, such as a history of American Crime (O.J. Simpson’s Bronco is there!); consequences of crime, including famous mug shots; investigating crimes, such as DNA & ballistics; crime fighting, including such greats like Eliot Ness & Buford Pusser; and lastly counterfeit crimes and information!
There are over 25,000 square feet & two floors FULL of everything having to do with criminals, crime, police, fighting, etc. It sounds absolutely fascinating!!
