In case you aren’t aware, today is a double “holiday” of sorts! It’s National Son and Daughter Day! As well as Mountain Day! I couldn’t let it pass by without mentioning and blabbing on and on how much I adore my sons. They are my EVERYTHING.

Declan - we're celebrating National Sons Day today!
Declan – we’re celebrating National Sons Day today!

I’m pretty sure anyone who knows me already knows this. However, I’m throwing it out in my blog so that everyone else who isn’t as familiar with me, understands too! I have two boys (for now), and they are just 15 months apart. We honestly didn’t plan on either of them. We were beginning to try when we found out I was pregnant with Declan in early 2016. You can check out my reminder post for more about us!

Tristan, on the other hand, was a total shock. Declan was only four months old when we found out I was pregnant again! Talk about not being prepared, lol! We had only just gotten used to having one baby around, and now, we were joining the epic two under two club!

Regardless, here we are, almost four years later, and I wouldn’t change it for a thing! We have had our ups and downs, but lately, it’s been more ups! Especially now that Declan is potty-trained! Man, potty-training is a doozy and sucks! But, still, one down, one to work on LOL!

So let’s talk about how to celebrate National Son and Daughter Day.

This year is a bit of a challenge on really celebrating with my sons, due to COVID. Many of the areas around us are still shut down or closed, depending on the part of the city we’re in at the time. Some places that are still open, though, are hiking trails, and things like that! So, I think that I might wait till Tyler gets home from work, and let him know what’s going on, and the 4 of us, well, probably 5 of us including Gunner, will head over to Jefferson Barracks to wander around the trails there!

Getting out in nature, enjoying family time, and exploring! Then, maybe afterward, go to the cemetery there to visit some of our family who’s passed on. If I’m not mistaken, there’s a snow-cone stand close by that we could stop by on the way home for a treat!

How do you and your family celebrate these types of holidays with your sons and daughters? Could you drop me a comment? I’d love to get to know you!

Quickly before I close this post out, let’s chat about Mountain Day! Before right now, I’d never heard of Mountain Day! What about you?

According to National Today, which was kindly brought to my attention by Mariah, a publicist with National Today, this is a relatively new holiday. It’s celebrated annually in Japan and tries to get folks outdoors, exploring and taking in the mountains’ natural beauty. That is if there are any available near you!

It sounds like a fantastic holiday to me!! I love getting outdoors and taking in the scenery around me! The only downside for me is that I don’t live near any mountains! So the hiking tonight to celebrate my sons will have to do!

Thanks for stopping by!

Love ya, as always,

Kelly Ann
