Just ask Ashton’s dad, an electrician! In Joshua Page’s new book, “What Does Your Daddy Do?,” Ashton is in a younger class who is having a career week!

When Ashton is asked what his dad does, he isn’t too sure. So he gets home and asks. His dad goes on to explain how he is an electrician, how he gets to use different tools every day, and meets new people on all of the different jobs he gets to do.

Being an electrician means Ashton’s dad went to a trade school and not a “traditional” college.  A lot of younger children don’t fully understand what a trade career is like. An electrician or a plumber, or a roofer, are all quite different, but attainable with study!

Children in certain families may be raised with an expectation that college is a necessity.  While that does work for some kids, there are a lot of kids who may not enjoy going to a college that will result in a “white-collar” job.

For instance, both my husband and my dad worked what are considered “blue-collar.” My hubby is a utility locator, and my dad was a roofer for a long time back in the day. I even got to get up on some roofs once upon a time!! (It terrified me, LOL – climbing down was the worst!)

Joshua Page’s book highlights how good trade workers are necessary and have interesting jobs that make them happy! Everyone’s goal as they reach adulthood is to actually ENJOY their job, right?!

Once Ashton gets the information from his dad, he heads to school and fills his whole class in on what an AWESOME job his dad has! His goal is to be an electrician just like his dad someday!

This book, “What Does Your Daddy Do?,” is available at all major bookstores, as well as on Amazon. It’s the perfect gift for any elementary aged kiddo you know! With Christmas right around the corner, and birthdays pretty much daily, I’m sure there’s someone you know who could use this book as a gift!

My oldest, Declan, is 6 years old and thoroughly enjoyed this book! There were a lot of questions about what electricians do, as well as plumbers (a plumber is mentioned in the book as well).
