Today, I’m delving into two books that were gifted to me to see my thoughts and share them with you all!

Manners and Me, a cute, witty book, written for kids by Nancy Dorrier, helps parents teach their children the basics of manners. What they are, when to use them, what they’re for – you get the picture! Illustrated beautifully by Ralph Voltz, each page goes through a different manner. Suggestions are given as to how to implement those manners in everyday conversations. Check it out on https://mannersandme.com/.

Your kids or students will be able to learn about listening, being respectful, communicating well, getting to know people better, please, and thank you, promptness, and many more! It’s a great way to introduce manners and reinforce the idea of what precisely these behaviors are. This will be the goto book each time your child has an issue concerning manners and how to *hopefully* help to correct the problem!

Visit Nancy at her website, https://nancydorrier.com/, where you can learn more about her, the books she’s written, subscribe to her blog, and more! You can also check out some of Ralph’s work on his site, http://www.ralphvoltz.com/. There are some incredible items out there!

Next up, I have ‘Thank You Body, Thank You Heart,’ written by Jennifer Cohen Harper, and illustrated by Karen Gilmour. Take a peek at what Jennifer has been up to here, https://www.littlefloweryoga.com/meet-our-team/jennifer-cohen-harper/. Or go and visit Karen here, http://www.karengilmour.com/life.html, or in her studio, if you’re lucky enough to live close by: https://www.alluemyoga.com/. Their book is exquisite. The entirety is about teaching kids to appreciate everything that their body does for them without them having to think about it. Their legs let them walk all day; their nose smells delicious goodies; their heart pumps continuously; their lungs let them breathe in and out. So on and so forth.

As an adult, reading this book made me realize that I don’t give my “self” enough credit. My body does a myriad of functions day in and day out, without me having to lift a finger. It’s an incredible piece of art if you genuinely think about it! This book is a great read to teach kids to appreciate themselves, both inside and outside!

Do you have any suggestions or related books that teach kids the importance of self-care, manners, or anything like that? With my kids still being young and impressionable, every little bit helps! Leave me a thought or two!

Love ya,

Kelly Ann
