Soap. We all use it every day, some more than others admittedly (my three-year-old, not so much – but my two-year-old – about 15 times a day randomly and for no apparent reason!) Regardless, do you wash your hands CORRECTLY? THAT is the question of the day, everyone!

Awhile back, Kaitlyn from Rell Marketing + Communications reached out to me inquiring if I’d heard of How To Wash. Well, I had not, I mean not aside from what my parents taught me growing up LOL. We conversed a bit back and forth, and she was kind enough to send me a few of the soap bottles for a review! (THANK YOU, Kaitlyn!)

I thought I knew what I was doing. How hard is it to wash hands, I mean? Well, rougher than I thought lol. Take a look at the side of one of their hand soap bottles – do YOU wash the same way? I sure didn’t!

Here I am about a month later, and I have one of these “bad boys” in every bathroom of my home, LOL! They’re excellent for the kids. Granted, they can’t read yet, but we point at the bottles while we’re washing and trying to get them involved for the full amount of time.

I even brought two bottles down to our new home, so we have them there while we’re cleaning, unpacking, and everything else! It’s been a bit of an adjustment to make sure I’m using the soap correctly and washing right. Old habits, you know? Usually, I’m in such a rush, that those extra 15 seconds take “too long,” which is so my fault!

This line of products is created by Melinda Rubin, who shows no signs of stopping any time soon!

Our interview: the beginning. I’ll be using HTW for “them” as their brand name is, How To Wash.

Me: The soaps are available in a few major stores, as well as online through the site. Are there plans to market this product to a broader audience? Possibly overseas?

HTW: We wanted to ensure that How To Wash was available to as many households as possible and convenient to purchase, so we targeted retailers with national distribution who could help us serve the largest number of consumers. More and more retail partners are recognizing the
benefits of How To Wash, and aligning with our mission. We are grateful for their support as we teach and promote good hygiene and health. Our focus initially is the U.S.; then, we will pursue other markets.

Me: What other inventive products have the founder of this company come up with to help families, as stated in the story?

HTW: Her passion has always been to help people; as a result, Melinda and her team created an engaging baby care collection, Just Hatched. Designed by and for Moms, it’s an affordable, adorable, natural-based baby care brand, that’s free from yucky stuff. You won’t find sulfates, parabens phthalates, and gluten in Just Hatched! Products not just for Baby but TLC for Mama too. You can learn more at https://noyuckystuff.com/. Nature’s Beauty products also have ‘helping people’ as a purpose. These nature-inspired beauty products solve a myriad of skin and body complaints. Learn more at: https://naturesbeautybrands.com/. Last, but certainly not least, is Blue Goo, a family of problem-solution products that address pain, resolve dry skin conditions, and fight nail fungus. Check them out at: https://dothegoo.com/.

Me: Right now, there are three scented handwashes and one fragrance-free. With so many available scents out there, are there plans to expand the scent options?

HTW: The scent opportunities are endless! We are always testing and developing new scents, stay tuned for which ones make the next cut.

My thoughts on this half of the interview

Well, pardon me while I run and check out every other line of products Ms. Rubin has come up with so far! I have a few skin complaints I could use to address. Also, body complaints? Does anyone think I can make fat magically disappear? I’d SO be down for that!

Did I mention the scents they currently have? Fresh lemon, lavender fields, ocean air, and fragrance-free!!

Interview continued

Me: It’s CRAZY that 95% of folks don’t know how to wash correctly! (I was one of them, AH!) Where is the study with those results?!

HTW: How To Wash found the study on CleaningInstitue.org linked below, which was originally found on Eurekalert.org, that credited researchers from the University of Michigan.

Me: What ways can people connect with the folks at How To Wash? I noticed on the site that there are a Facebook and an Instagram page. Are there other sites?

HTW: We love connecting with and hearing from our community! Our Instagram, Facebook, and website are the best ways to get in touch with us. Be sure to sign up for our emails to stay up to date on promotions, new products, or in-store offers. You can also follow us on social media to see our latest collaborations and new retailers that are added as we continue to roll out our products across the country.

Me: What would you recommend for parents with younger children who don’t fully understand the importance of washing their hands as to how to keep them on track? In terms of not losing their focus after SUCH A LONG time washing?!

HTW: Kids love games, so why not make a game out of washing hands? You can sing songs that last for 20 seconds. Some say ‘Happy Birthday’ lasts 20 seconds if you sing it twice! Or play counting games to 20 and in different languages. Funny hand gestures made while hand washing engages some children, too. The possibilities can be endless!

Another thought from yours truly 🙂

Excuse me while I go and start learning the numbers one through twenty in a variety of languages! My current count is only two, so I’d only be able to count to twenty in English and Spanish (thank you high school and grade school Spanish teachers!)

Commencement of the interview:

Me: Your product has no harsh chemicals and isn’t tested on animals. Why does it seem that so many other companies can’t keep up with those seemingly simple guidelines for healthier living?

HTW: Making quality products not tested on animals is in our DNA. We hope that other companies will follow in the future, and, in the meantime, we will continue to create products that are safe and effective.

Me: What is your goal for this product in the next five years?

HTW: Our goal in the next five years is to continue to teach people ‘How To…’ From How To Wash, we will move to ‘How To Sanitize.’ There will be products to facilitate teaching so we can all learn ‘How To’ make the world a more hygienic, healthier, and happier place!

My final thoughts for you:

Certainly sounds like a plan to me, especially now that I’m wondering if I sanitize my hands right, too (I do at least have a sanitizer I LOVE!)! If you’re curious about these soap products, check them out at Walgreens, Meijer, and H-E-B right now! Or the actual website would work, too!

I love finding new products that are useful and have a great purpose in my home. What about you? Care to drop me a comment about what your favorite cleansing products are? I’d love to hear about them!

Love ya,

Kelly Ann
