I just finished reading a fantastic book today, just a little while ago. ‘The New Baby Blueprint’ by Whitney Casares. In addition to leaving me wishing I had had that book before Declan being born, it also made me think about my life, and if I’m living it the way I want to! The answer, no, I’m not. This isn’t going to be a long post, but I thought this could be beneficial to pretty much everyone out there!
Within her book, Whitney states that she was out with a friend one evening who had her complete the following exercise. Below is a list of nine major life categories, in random order:

  • Exercise & Stress Reduction
  • Kids
  • Work
  • Appearance
  • Partner
  • Family & Friends
  • Homemaking
  • Travel & Experiences
  • Hobbies

Next, take the time to put this list in the order you’d WISH. Be 100% honest! My list went like this:

  • Travel & Experiences
  • Hobbies
  • Kids
  • Exercise & Stress Reduction
  • Partner
  • Family & Friends
  • Appearance
  • Homemaking
  • Work

Lastly, be realistic. How does your list ACTUALLY look in your day-to-day life right now? Mine is below:

  • Work
  • Kids
  • Homemaking
  • Partner
  • Hobbies
  • Family & Friends
  • Appearance
  • Travel & Experiences
  • Exercise & Stress Reduction

From here, it’s all about how do you want to take this information and use it? For me, I realize that I’m not at all where I want to be in terms of how I want my reality versus my ideal reality. So, the best I can do right now is to take it day by day. I’ve slowly been attempting to incorporate more of my hobbies into my day to day life, such as reading more. The kids have accepted this, and now they like to bring out their books when I’m reading too. So that’s a win-win situation right there. Other than that, I’ll keep pushing day in and day out to get my life where I want it to be doing small things here and there that can work in my favor.
