Peppermint bark – is your mouth watering yet? Mine sure was when I was reading up on the recent survey conducted by National Today sent to me by Amanda (from National Today) for the FIRST EVER National peppermint bark DAY (AKA December 1st, 2021). They discovered that over 30% of consumers prefer peppermint bark over what I would think are the more traditional holiday treats, gingerbread, and candy canes!

To set the record straight as well, folks specifically want some of Williams Sonoma Peppermint Bark. This delicious confection, created in 1998, takes the company over 24 hours to make just one small batch! Now that’s dedication! Williams Sonoma begins prepping for the holiday season at least three months before December! Check out their IG page for other stellar products!

Williams Sonoma uses over a million pounds of Guittard chocolate, as well as 65,000 pounds of peppermint candy! I cannot even fathom that amount of chocolate, and I’m a huge chocolate fan! The more chocolatey, the happier I am! (Guittards Chocolatiers has been around for over 150 years! You can see what they’re up to on their IG too!) Based on the peppermint bark’s popularity, Williams Sonoma created a myriad of other items with the peppermint bark flavor, including coffee capsules and cookies! They even have a peppermint bark advent calendar! I mean stop it, lol!

What better way to say MERRY CHRISTMAS than to gift someone some of this incredible chocolate?!

I will admit, there will be some folks on your gift list that don’t particularly enjoy chocolate – or peppermint, for that matter. This gift idea is not for them! My hubby isn’t a fan of chocolate; he’ll eat a piece here or there, maybe once a month, but that’s it. I could eat chocolate every day and be perfectly content. Add peppermint, and I’m a happy camper. I love my pumpkin spice coffees from Starbucks; however, I’m done for once the peppermint mochas come in (which they have – hint-hint!)

I did some digging to find out the why behind the peppermint bark, and the answer is surprisingly simple. Chuck Williams (yes, for WILLIAMS Sonoma) asked a team of folks back in 1998 to try to create a holiday candy that was a throwback to simpler times from his childhood. He wanted to recreate that nostalgia of going out and finding the perfect holiday treat – and boy, did he get it!

The peppermint bark that is made painstakingly by Williams Sonoma is held in the highest regard. Its exact ingredients are considered top secret – and aside from knowing that there’s a mix of white and dark chocolate, combined with crushed peppermint pieces and peppermint oil – you’re not going to get the full details on that. To this day, there’s only one peppermint bark that carries the name Williams Sonoma.

So, how are you going to celebrate NATIONAL PEPPERMINT BARK DAY?

Let me tell you how I’ll be celebrating. First, I’ll log into my work computer and yawn about 20 times. Then, I’ll throw Declan’s lunch together and check-in his folder to make sure I didn’t miss anything important. Next, I’ll get Declan into his uniform while simultaneously working and yelling at the dogs to stop whatever nonsense they’re doing.

Tristan and I follow a standard routine once I get Declan dropped off, which is right at 8 AM. I work, he plays, we argue, he cries and fights naps, we argue about potty training, I continue working in frustration at the child that disagrees with me about everything. Tristan climbs onto the couch to tell me he loves me and needs more chocolate milk, PLEASE, and then we watch some Disney+ program. My frozen mommy heart will melt.

We’ll take a break to go pick Declan up once school is out, and then we’ll hightail it back home so I can finish work. Finally, I’ll start dinner and pray that Tyler has found me some Williams Sonoma peppermint bark to satisfy what I can only describe now as a serious craving. Dark chocolate sea salt peppermint bark, please! 🙂

What a way to start December! (If I do say so myself, and I do!)

Peppermint bark paws! How freaking cute!

National peppermint bark day. (Here’s National Today’s IG info!) That’s just too good of an opportunity to indulge. Now that we’ve made it to December, it’s time to get a grip on reality and realize that Christmas is ALMOST here! My goal – quite lofty – is to try to give you a gift idea each day. Some days will be for the kids; or perhaps for your significant others; or maybe for your pets. It all just depends on what strikes my fancy – and hopefully yours!

In case you missed it, I just published my first gift idea for you yesterday – Sunny the Mail Snail subscription for any kiddo in your life! It would be the perfect gift! Today’s gift idea, the peppermint bark – well, that can be for anyone on your list – maybe even for Santa? Perhaps he’d be a fan of the peppermint bark cookies that are new this year!? Get it while you can as this treat is only available for the holidays!
